Blockbuster Movies Being Used to Impact the Generation, Non-Profit Organization Taking Hollywood into the Classroom (VIDEO)

A new non-profit organization, TrueSpark, held an official Launch Party in New York City Tuesday night to celebrate their efforts in using inspirational movies to impact the next generation.

BreatheCast attended the TrueSpark event at the New Museum in Manhattan which was held to commemorate the organization's bi-coastal nationwide charity. TrueSpark uses movies such as Pay it Forward, Rudy, October Sky, and others to influence kids to develop positive character. It has served over 285 educational sites in 24 states, and over 27,000 kids up to date have experienced the TrueSpark curriculum.

Youth ages of 11 to 18 are instructed to watch and discuss movies with positive messages and inspirational lessons that illustrate positive character traits like honesty, integrity, and courage, which build character and foster ethical development.

TrueSparks partners include The YMCA, KIPP, Boy & Girls Club, Girl Scouts and others. The organization's mission is "to expose, immerse and engage America's youth on issues of character through watching inspiring movies." Actress AnnaSophia Robb, who played Bethany Hamilton in Soul Surfer, has become the spokesperson for TrueSpark.
