'Blade Runner 2' Movie Release Date News: Ryan Gosling Joins Cast Members, Filming Starting In July

Fans of the "Blade Runner" movie might be on the peak of bliss now that the sequel has been officially announced. Filming will begin this year and the movie will be slated for 2018 release.

The "Blade Runner 2" is indeed true, notes Slash Film. The production team will begin shooting in July and the motion picture will kick off in big screens on Jan. 12, 2018.

The motion picture stars big time Hollywood celebrity Harrison Ford once again. Ryan Gosling will be joining the cast of characters as well.

Notably, Ridley Scott will not be sitting in the director's chair right now, because he is now the film's executive producer. Additionally, CEO's of Thunderbird Films Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, with Bill Carraro, will be joining Ridley as well.

They will team up with "Prisoners and Sicario" director Denis Villeneuve, cinematographer Roger Deakins and Hampton Fancher and Michael Green as writers. Other casts and crew will be revealed soon.

As for the official plot, Deadline reports that the story will pick up "several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original Blade Runner story."

Apart from that, Ridley also dropped some hints regarding the upcoming sequel, saying that the next film will be "epic." He commended the writers as well, saying that his working with them is the "best experience" for him.

"This was one of the writers I had the best experience with, on the original Blade Runner, meeting him every day, polishing the script," Ridley said. "We'd solve one problem and there would be another," the director added.
