In the upcoming series against the surging Chicago Blackhawks, the Los Angeles Kings' Stanley Cup hopes begin and end with goaltender Jonathan Quick. As good as Quick was last season he may be even better in this year's playoffs. To beat Quick, the Blackhawks need to be on top of their passing near goal. Quick is an aggressive goalie. He's not going to be at the top of the crease, he'll be at the middle of the slot. He's going to come out and cut down on room. The Blackhawks need to have the patience to hold on to the puck.
Though the Kings can skate almost as well as the Blackhawks, L.A. hits a lot harder. When the Kings hits you, you stay hit, making it tough to hold on to the puck. If the Blackhawks passing game is there, the Hawks can beat Jonathan Quick and win the series.
The Blackhawks and Kings opened the 2013 season in a two game series. The Hawks won both. Granted it was a shortened lockout season and both teams were getting their legs underneath them.
All in all, the Kings are playing exceptional hockey right now, and the Blackhawks will have to rise to the occasion if they hope to advance to the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals.
