BlackBerry Passport and Classic Release News: AT&T to Carry BlackBerry Devices

The Canadian Company looked for a chance to sell their popular BlackBerry Passport and Classic phones in the U.S, and now, AT&T is letting them have that chance.

These newer BlackBerry phones are to be sold at various AT&T stores throughout the nation starting this week, February 20th to be exact.

According to Demanjo, the release of the phone in September brought in 200,000 orders and a lot of positive things to say about the devices last year. However, the company's success was slow the month's to come afterward.

The BlackBerry Passport has rounded edges; an exclusive from AT&T. Everything else is the same including features that are appealing to US buyers such as a touchscreen, full keyboard and 4G networks. The Classic is an update from the Bold 9900 series with a faster browser, longer battery life and larger screen.

Said Chris Davies of Slash Gear, "AT&T is keen to play up its BlackBerry history, pointing out that it was the first US carrier to offer a phone from the company." People may remember that the BlackBerry phone was the phone to home during the early 2000s. However, with the 2007 release of Apple's iPhone and the 2008 release of Google's Android phones, the company struggled with keeping up with the competition.

AT&T is making a variation of payments for the two phones. The BlackBerry Passport will be available for $200 with a two year contract and the Classic $50 for a two year contract. If a contract is not wanted the phones will be priced at $650 and $420.
