Blackberry Classic Release Date, Specs, News: Strikes Back with the New Q20 Model?
Smartphone giant BlackBerry, formerly Research In Motion, is once again re-establishing themselves as one of the most popular brands in the world of smartphones with the impending release of their new BlackBerry Classic, also known as the BlackBerry Q20.
In recent years, BlackBerry has been losing market share rapidly to big names such as Apple, with their recently released iPhone 6, and Samsung's line of Galaxy smartphones.
However, BlackBerry CEO John Chen has stated that the Classic, along with the BlackBerry Passport, are the hopes of bringing the company back into profit status.
The Blackberry Q20 was highlighted during the Blackberry Passport launch with CEO John Chen of Blackberry saying, "There's a new product called the BlackBerry Classic that's coming out. It's an updated and enhanced version of one of our most popular and successful products called the Bold," Chen stated.
According to tech analysts, people may gravitate to the Classic on its release, largely because there are consumers that miss the physical QWERTY keyboard layout on a phone, as opposed to a touchscreen. The Classic attempts to incorporate the best of both worlds.
The BlackBerry Classic will run on the Blackberry 10.3.1 operating system and will be powered by a Quad core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The design will closely resemble that of the BlackBerry Bold. However, it is expected to be more luxurious looking than the Bold and will feature a metal frame, according to Know Your Mobile.
Additional specs include a 3.5-inch LCD display with a 1440 x 1440 pixel resolution. It also comes equipped with a 13 megapixel camera with geo-tagging and face recognition capabilities.
