Bill Maher Alleges President Barack Obama is a ‘Drop-Dead Atheist’ in New Interview
In a new interview, comedian Bill Maher accused President Barack Obama of being a "Drop-Dead Atheist" when he appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
"You know who is a liar about this is Obama. Obama's always spouting spiritual bulls**t, and I don't believe it for a second," said Maher to Stewart claiming that some politicians proclaim their faith around election time, "He's a drop-dead atheist, absolutely."
Maher went as far as to mention The Commander and Chief's relationship with former Trinity United Church Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
"He never went [to Rev. Wright's church], He joined because he wanted to move ahead in that political world, and of course you had to be part of the church," said Maher.
The Real Time with Bill Maher host also talked about former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton saying The Bible "was and remains the biggest influence on my thinking" when she was interviewed by The New York Times.
"You couldn't find something more violent, like Game of Thrones?" said Maher, "That's so a beat behind. You know that's certainly not where the Millennials are, right?"
The 58-year-old comedian also mentioned he would never become a politician, but if he was a political figure, he would use the following motto:
"Drugs are good and religion is bad, ...Which you can't probably run for office on in this country...but I feel like the needle has moved on both of those. I think people have come over to my thinking."
Real Time with Bill Maher airs live every Friday at 10:00 pm EST on HBO.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart broadcasts every Monday-Thursday at 11:00 pm on Comedy Central.
