CBS Network has finally announced the release date for The Big Bang Theory as it is set to air on September 22. The show's producers have also announced that two episodes will be aired back-to-back.

Although spoilers for Big Bang Theory Season 8 are few in number, some are still making the rounds on the Internet.

There are a few things that fans can expect to see in the upcoming series of episodes. One of which revolves around the question of whether or not Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, will be returning to the show.

TV Line quotes Jim Parsons speaking on the matter, "I never thought of that, but you're right - he could show back up at home immediately, couldn't he?" He also said that he grilled his bosses about where his alter ego will go, but no one told him, "I don't know if they know yet. They may know, but I really don't know if they do."

Moreover, Parsons shared his anxious feelings about Sheldon seeing Amy again, he told the website, "I don't know that we're headed for the bedroom or the altar any time soon. But, whatever... The writers have been so good with the pace of it, just bring more is all I would say."

Talking about Sheldon, Steve Molaro, executive producer, told Entertainment Weekly, that his aim is to "chip away at Sheldon and break him down to the point where he just needed to leave to process everything."

In addition, the new Season will also have some surprises for Penny (portrayed by Kaley Cuoco). Viewers will see Penny and Leonard (portrayed by Johnny Galecki) heading to the alter, making it a perfect time to introduce her mom to the fans. According to Kaley Cuoco, Lisa Kudrow is most suited to play the character of Penny's mom.

Interestingly enough, viewers will see Cuoco sporting a latest pixie haircut. She hopes that her producers will like her new look and that she will not require changing it for the character. In fact, she is becoming very fond of her new look as Penny.

Meanwhile, Molaro disclosed that Emily may possibly still be there in Season 8, so some hope remains about her return to the show.
