‘Big Bang Theory’ Season 8: CBS Series Renewed for 3 More Seasons, Sheldon Cooper Unlikely To Leave

Warner Bros geek comedy show, Big Bang Theory, is renewed for another three years partly due to its top rating of 19.79 million viewers on the CBS network, according to a survey by Nielsen. In Season 7, Sheldon Cooper's career at Caltech is at stake and he refuses to stay with his housemate, some speculate this could mean the end for his role on the show.

Executive producer Steve Molaro dismissed the allegations and assured fans that Sheldon and other cast members are staying for as long as they are needed in the story.  "Not at all. We're making the best episodes that we can come up with. I have to move forward assuming everyone is going to be there. I have no reason to think they won't be. That wasn't a factor," he told Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to that, Big Bang Theory's Season 8 welcomes new relationships, engagements, and baby showers. Peggy (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) are engaged, it is expected that they might move forward with the marriage sooner rather than later. At the same time, Melissa Rauch is giving birth to Simon Helberg's first newborn.

With the show's recently announced renewal, rumor has it that CBS has a set $4 to $5 million per episode licensing fee, in comparison to the usual $350,000 per episode rate.

Big Bang Theory Season 8 premieres on the Fall on CBS.
