‘Big Bang Theory’ Season 8 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Leonard-Penny Engagement, Shamy & More!

Fans of 'The Big Bang Theory' were looking forward to the air date of the show's Season 8 on September 22, but due to recent production delays, that broadcast may have to be postponed. However, eager viewers are in luck, because spoilers for the upcoming installment have surfaced on the web.

Showrunner Steve Molaro revealed some nitty-gritty details about the upcoming season in an interview this week.

With regard to the Leonard Hofstadter and Penny's nuptials, it is said that this would become the highlight of the season, "A wedding is sometime off in the future," Molaro said, "They're not in a rush. Penny's first goal is to put the date far enough in the future so everyone knows for a fact that she's not pregnant."

This news comes as somewhat of a let down for serious 'The Big Bang Theory' fans, as they have been waiting for a wedding between the two for seven seasons now, and don't want to wait any longer. Besides the fans, Cuoco herself is a tad disappointed about a delayed Season 8 wedding.

"I'm hoping next season will involve a lot of wedding stuff, I think that would be really fun," she said, "If I had to guess, Leonard is probably more of the planner than Penny, which would be very funny. Everyone's growing up a little bit," she added.

Beyond the wedding plans, the writers for the show have put a bit of a spin on Penny's situation in the upcoming installment. Since her dreams of becoming an actress have sort of faltered, fans are wondering what's in store for Penny.

"Penny has an interesting arc this year where she puts acting down," said Chuck Lorre. "She gets a shot to be a pharmaceutical rep at Bernadette's company."

"She's going to start making some money," Lorre added.

As for Sheldon and Amy, Sheldon's runaway scene would, in no way, affects their relationship. Molaro said that the love team will "have their own weird brand of happiness right now."

'The Big Bang Theory' is set to premiere on September 22, however, that is subject to change.
