Big Bang Theory Season 8 Release Date: Season 7 Finale Spoilers Reveal Sheldon Goes AWOL [VIDEO]

The Big Bang Theory Season 7 ends with a major cliffhanger on Thursday with Sheldon going AWOL without leaving the audience an idea to where he is going.

Penny and Leonard got engaged in the last episode but are struggling to figure out whether they should continue on and go through with the marriage for the Season 7 finale titled The Status Quo Combustion.

Penny expains that she is looking to make the "smart" decision in her life after being fired from her movie project. Leonard feels insulted and thinks that her future wife is only marrying him as she has been left with no other choices.

Kaley Couco's character is quick to dismiss the negativity and says, "It may look that way, but getting fired from that movie was the best thing that could have happened to me. I finally realized I don't need to be famous or have some big career to be happy!"

Executive Producer Steve Molaro confirmed that Big Bang Theory will end with Sheldon leaving the series oblivious as to where he going and what he will do. Meanwhile, Jim Parsons, who plays the role of Sheldon, has no idea about the future of his character until Season 8 is filmed.

"He gets the hell out of there, and I have no idea where he's going or what he's planning. I won't know until I come back and read the first episode [of Season 8]. All the [personal and professional] changes that are taking place finally start to come home to roost for him as problems," Parsons said explaining why his character is set to leave the Season 7 finale.

He added, "It was very interesting to read it for the first time and then to play the final episode because it really gets at the crux of something that is perhaps his defining characteristic as a character on television -- which is his resistance to change. If you look at it through that lens, so many of the things he does, the things he says, the places he sits, etc, have everything to do with the fact that this is the way it's done, this is the right way to do it and this has served him fairly well as a human. They've got him in a situation now, the writers do, where it's not possible to carry on without some of these changes."

Big Bang Theory Season 7 finale episode airs on May 15, 8 PM EST on CBS.
