'The Bible' Movie Edit is done, Mark Burnett Reveals Feature Version of Series
You probably at least heard about "The Bible" mini-series on The History Channel that aired to record numbers back in March if you did not watch any of it yourself.
The original five part series overviewing the Bible and life of Jesus was produced by Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey and ended up being the highest rated TV show of the year.
Well since then, Mark Burnett ("Survivor", "The Voice", "The Apprentice") has been working on an under 3 hour movie from the footage of the series focusing on the life of Jesus. This would most likely be footage from mostly the final two episodes of the series.
Burnett wanted to put it together so people could watch it in one sitting like a movie and has announced this weekend that they have finished the edit and it is right about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Deadline reported him saying, "I believe that in the next 15 years, more people on the planet will have seen our Bible series that haven't seen it."
"It's a God voice," Burnett told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's clearly a calling; clearly, we felt it was something we had to do, and too many things happened to explain it any other way. It's a juggernaut, and it's not going to slow down."
The DVD set of the full "The Bible" series that aired on The History Channel released in April, no word on when the official release of the new movie will be yet.
"The Bible" series was stunningly shot and the acting was very compelling. It was the best bible adaptation ever put on screen to date in many peoples opinions.
