'The Bible' miniseries on the History Channel: The Prophecy Is Not Over Yet!
The Bible miniseries aired its final episode Easter Sunday evening, March 31 on History Channel. Instead of ending the 5-part miniseries with Jesus' resurrection, like most movies about Jesus do, producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey chose a different conclusion.
Though The Bible had a feature-film sized budget the series never went over the top with CGI and visual effects. Instead the show relied on the actors and historical interpretation instead of flashy explosions.
Because it is on cable TV The Bible couldn't be as graphic as say, Mel Gibson's 2004 box office hit The Passion of the Christ. The scenes of Jesus being beaten weren't nearly as bloody. Though the scene was intense you didn't necessarily feel the pain with every single blow to his back, like in Passion of the Christ.
For any TV show or film that takes on the story of Jesus, the actor playing the Son of God ultimately makes or breaks the show. Portuguese-based soap opera star Diogo Morgado portrayed Jesus perfectly. The actor admits the hours he spent on the cross during three days of filming were extremely painful, but was honored to have the privilege of playing such a monumental role.
The final episode of The Bible miniseries didn't end with the Crucifixion of Christ. The episode shows how the disciples carried God's word, leading to eventual martyrdom. When a failed poisoning attempt on John goes awry, it shows the doubtful disciple spreading the word in foreign lands and later writing the book of Revelations, the final book of the Bible.

Though the series may be over, according to Revelations, the prophecy is not.
