Beyonce' Headlining London Benefit Concert "The Sound of Change Live", Madonna Making Appearance as Well

London will be hosting the "The Sound of Change Live" Benefit Concert on June 1st. 

Activists Gloria Steinem and Bishop Desmond Tutu have teamed up with musicians  Beyonce', Madonna, Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding and others to put on the concert that will be broadcast to over 150 countries on June 1st. The concert will also air on NBC on June 2nd in the U.S.

The 4 hour concert is being organized by the Chime for Change campaign. They raise money for education, health and justice projects benefitting women and girls in over 70 countries world wide. Chime for Change was started by Gucci. 

People who buy tickets will be able to select which project their ticket money will go to benefit. 

"Sixty percent of the children in the world not in school are girls," Madonna said. "Two-thirds of the world's illiterate are women. I do not accept this. We need to change this and we will change this." 

Mandonna will not perform but will be a presenter throughout the evening. Beyonce' will be the music headliner. 

Throughout the night, the concert will also showcase other stories and films about women's issues from a global perspective. 

The concert is expected to reach over a billion people this weekend and share the message of empowerment for women.
