Beyonce and Jay-Z Divorce Rumors Staged: Knowles' Father Says Break-Up Used To Spark 'On The Run' Ticket Sales
Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles, revealed that divorce rumors were used to ignite ticket sales for the couple's "On The Run" Tour. The "Single Ladies" singer's father made the claim while he was a guest on Houston radio station 104.1 KRBE's 'The Roula and Ryan Show'.
Recently, Beyonce and Jay-Z have faced a bottomless pit when it came to divorce rumors. Gossip websites were looking at every possible angle, trying to find out if the celebrity singing duo would stay together or not.
However, Mathew Knowles said that the rumors were exaggerated, and were "sometimes [used] to ignite that tour," Radar Online reports.
"It's called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times," explained Knowles, "I know, because we've done this. From experience, there's a tour going on."
After Knowles' statement, the radio show hosts Roula Christie and Ryan Chase asked Mathew whether Solange, Matthew's youngest daughter, and Jay-Z knew that their elevator fight in May was being recorded, and if the involved parties wanted to publicize the fight.
"All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone's talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange's album sales went up 200 per cent!" answered Mathew.
On the same radio show, Mathew Knowles also hinted that Destiny's Child may be reunited very soon. "Folks don't know it, but I am still the manager of Destiny's Child," he said.
"When you see Destiny's Child on TV and you see them doing songs together slowly, slowly - now they've done two, they were recently on TV - I don't know, it might be another Destiny's Child album coming," Knowles added.
Knowles expressed his thoughts on the possibility of Destiny's Child reunion, "There might be this tour that makes history, Destiny's Child featuring Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle. Can you imagine what that would be like?"
Roula and Ryan went on to ask the 63-year old music producer to "cough twice if that [a Destiny's Child reunion] is happening in the next year." Knowles coughed twice right away.
The possible Destiny's Child reunion would be the first in eight years. The trio last performed as a group in 2006. Each of the members continued as solo artists since then.
