Best High School Prospect Since Lebron James? See Andrew Wiggin's Dunk Here (VIDEO)
His name is Andrew Wiggins and hails from our northern neighbor Canada.
In Chicago on Monday, the McDonald's High School All-American's had their first practice. Some are saying this is the best crop of high school basketball players since 2007. That year produced NBA stars like Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin, James Harden and Eric Gordon.
Andrew Wiggins name starts to buzz around the scouts that are there to get their first glimpse at the talent. When speaking of Wiggins, the Lebron James comparison gets thrown out there. Not that he is the same size or build of Lebron James, simply that Wiggins could be the best high school recruit of the last 10 years.
Wiggins is very unselfish in the scrimmages and doesn't try to force anything, but when he gets in transition, he shows that he can fly.
Next comes the dunk contest where Wiggins really starts his folklore. He starts with a safer dunk to get warmed up and then as you can see in the video above, his last dunk brings the house down in the Hyde Park gym. And as we all know in sports, when you can get your own peers excited about something, it is special and with the reaction everyone gives off of his reverse between the legs dunk, Wiggins is special.
He doesn't seem to like much of the spotlight, at least when it comes to talking off of the court. Wiggins would rather just go about his business and let his talking on the court speak for itself. He has not declared which school he will be attending for college, but may have his eyes set on Kentucky, which already has one of the best recruiting classes set up for this next season. So if Wiggins goes to Kentucky, they would potentially be right back at the top of the powerhouse food chain where they quickly dropped after winning the title last year.
Only time will tell how good Wiggins will be, but from the videos and the buzz, it should be fun to see what happens.
