Batman vs Superman Movie News and Rumors: Wonder Woman Costume to Resemble 'Gladiators From Ancient Rome'
In the upcoming sequel to Man of Steel, anticipated by many because of its inclusion of rival D.C. comic superhero, Batman, Gal Gadot, of The Fast and the Furious fame, will be starring as the noble Amazonian princess, Wonder Woman, who shares in the fight against the forces of evil and will be donning the appropriate garb for battle. Recently we've gained a little more information about what that garb will be like.
Hints from the costume designer for the epic project, Michael Wilkinson, suggest a bare-bones minimum approach, in the tradition of the ancient gladiators:
"I mean, you just have to look at the gladiators from ancient Rome; they did their thing in little loincloths, and a spear and a shield. It works for Thor, it works for 300 - so let's see what happens," he said in an interview with "The Wrap."
Wilkinson was reportedly intimidated with the unnerving tasks of designing one of the most iconic costumes in movie history.
"It's so important to get her right. She really deserves to be presented on screen in her full glory," he said.
And Gadot will be in full Amazonian form for the movie as well. She has undertaken: "A very serious training regimen-- kung fu, kickboxing, swords, jujitsu." She related in an interview for Israeli television show "Good Evening with Gai Pines."
All in all we hope to see a dazzling array of superhero plumage and prestige which will surely wow us when combined with the acting and special effects. Although it will be a while longer until we can experience the spectacle itself, as the release date for the Batman vs. Superman movie is currently set at May 2016.
