'Batman vs Superman' Movie News Update: Man of Steel 2 Battles "Captain America 3" On the Same Release Date (VIDEO)
Comic books giant DC and Warner Bros. issued a challenge for superhero supremacy earlier this year they changed the release date of their "Batman vs Superman" film to May 6, 2016, a date a previously unidentified Marvel movie had already claimed. Now fans know what movie and which Marvel hero will battle DC's World's Finest superheroes, and it's the first Avenger and World War 2 hero Captain America.
As of right now, "Captain America 3" is expected to debut against "Batman vs Superman" (a.k.a. Man of Steel 2) on May 6, 2016.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming schedules and post-production could always alter the current release date.
"We're still on that date and we're going to be announcing soon what the movie will be on that date. That's what we're sort of actively working on as we get ready to firm up and get into pre-production what will be the two films for '16 and the two films for '17," said Marvel boss Kevin Feige to IGN yesterday.
DC and Warner Bros. made an announcement when they revealed that they would release "Batman vs Superman" on a same date Marvel's film.
This will mark the biggest superhero movie showdown in history, as DC looks to make a major impact in the box office with a film that will team up not only Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), but also includes the movie debut of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Meanwhile, Captain America 3 will without a doubt continue the success of Marvel films just like the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier", the second Cap film will have its premiere in Hollywood tonight and already has critics who have seen the movie raving.
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which stars Chris Evans, will debut in movie theaters on April 4 in the U.S. and a week earlier internationally.
The "Batman vs. Superman" movie will appear in theaters on May 6, 2016.
