Batman vs Superman Movie Cast Rumors, Plot Update: Release Date Scheduled May 2016?
In the wake of the unbelievable success of "The Avengers," it was being said that Warner Bros. and DC Comics were in preparation for a "Justice League" movie for 2015 release. This made us believe that we would soon see great comic heroes like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash assemble on the big screen for the first time ever.
However, latest reports say that the plan for Justice League has dissipated. Instead, there is an altogether new project. Comic book fans will be thrilled to learn that a Superman/ Batman movie is being planned for 2016 release, precisely speaking May 6, 2016.
Ever since the announcement of the new project, which is supposed to be a sequel to "Man of Steel," we have been collecting all news and rumors related to the movie. What is its premiere date; who will feature in the new movie; who will direct it; what would be its storyline and much more? Some answers to these questions are given below.
Director Zack Snyder & Screenwriter David Goyer
With the "Man of Steel" movie grossing over $600 million at the worldwide box office, there was little doubt that there would be a follow up venture from director Zack Snyder.
Snyder and screenwriter David Goyer are set to return for the next movie in the series, being touted as "Batman vs Superman" at present.
The initial rumors that emerged last year, became a reality when an announcement was made regarding Batman vs. Superman wat Comic-Con 2013, where it was confirmed the duo was working on the storyline of the movie. After Goyer penned the initial drafts, Academy Award-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio took over. The production of the movie has already started.
The Plot and Storyline
Although Warner Bros. has announced that it is coming out with a Superman/ Batman movie, it has not yet offered any synopsis.
However, Goyer's titles for the forthcoming movie suggest that fans will see Superman and Batman at least as part rivals in the movie.
During the 75th anniversary of Superman, Goyer said, "We're actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it's-that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that's happening."
On the other hand, Harry Lennix revealed during a Warner Bros. panel that the studio has registered both BatmanvsSupermanMovie.com as well as Batmanvs.Superman.com as potential titles. This suggests that the two comic superheroes will be featured initially as enemies in the forthcoming movie, before they later become friends to unite against evil villains.
Casting
Taking a cue from Marvel Studios in developing a large cinematic world of superhero characters across numerous movies, Warner Bros. is producing the Superman/ Batman movie to introduce the latest take on the "Dark Knight". Henry Cavill is expected to portray Clark Kent (Superman) again trying to find his place in humanity and finding out how to live up to his destiny to protect the human race.
Ben Affleck will be portraying the Batman, and although there has been skeptics of his casting, others believe he is a seasoned actor who has the skills and acting prowess to exceed expectations fans have and to bring something new to the character. Fans should not expect any kind of replica of Christian Bale's portrayal of Batman in Christopher Nolan's recent Batman movie series.
The movie will also feature Gal Gadot as the Princess Diana of Themyscira.
