Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice Release Date Delayed Until 2016

Fans of the much-anticipated movie, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will have to wait as Warner Bros. has pushed the release date of the movie from July 17, 2015 to May 6, 2016.

According to the studio's official statement, this was a deliberate move to "allow the film makers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story." Though Warner Bros. has refused to give any more comments about the shift, they have reassured audiences that the prime mid-summer spot of 2015 will not go to waste, as Joe Wright's Peter Pan film will come out on the 17th instead.

Batman vs. Superman's new release date coincides with the screening of another blockbuster film, this time by Marvel, which is the follow-up to Captain America. The film will be Marvel's first release of 2016, and is slated to be shown on the big screen also by May 2016.

It is reported that both films will be in 3D, and the back-to-back releases are a concern for many theater chains as there is a limited amount of 3D screens available.

When Warner Bros. was asked if they would be moving the release dates again, Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros. reiterated that "at this time, we are not considering a change of date for Batman vs. Superman."

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zach Snyder and stars Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, and Ben Affleck as Batman.

Other actors who are confirmed to star alongside Cavill and Affleck are Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).
