Batman Arkham Knight PS4 & Xbox One Release Date: Delayed Until 2015, More Characters Added

'Batman: Arkham Knight', the latest addition to the Batman game franchise, is expected to release on all next-gen consoles. The original release date was scheduled for this year, 2014, but the latest reports say that it's been pushed back until 2015.

There are a number of reports that say the news originated at WonderCon, which took place last April following a DC All Access Panel demonstration of the game's trailer. Apparently, an announcement was made saying that "the release of the game has now been delayed till 2015."

A report in Game Informer regarding the release date of 'Batman: Arkham Knight' stated that the creators of the game disclosed that they have included additional characters following a collaboration between Rocksteady Studios and DC Comics to make the game more interesting.

RockSteady Studios co-founder Sefton Hill told Game Informer, "We hadn't in the previous games introduced someone new to the universe. We wanted to introduce someone who could really challenge Batman to go head to head with him in lots of different ways. We're not talking about those ways just yet but this guy is definitely a formidable foe for Batman."

Although the studio is yet to disclose anything regarding the new characters, it is believed that they may go both ways - introducing a protagonist or antagonist that would in some way "challenge" Batman. According to latest reports, the creators are developing a new villain, saying all existing antagonists reflect the caped crusader's personality and no one seems to pose a challenge to the superhero.

In an interview with Play-Mag, Dax Ginn, 'Batman: Arkham Knight' producer said, "It came from thinking about the way that we built interactions and engagements between Batman and the other members of the rouges gallery. They all reflect some aspect of his personality. Each of the super-villains connects with Batman in a very specific way and he is a collection of all of those things, but we never really had a villain who can engage with Batman of a physical, powerful, combat level."
