Barcelona Transfer News: Rejected by Vertonghen, Might Acquire Miranda, Cuadrado, and Agger

Barcelona has been busy in the transfer market over the past few weeks and only recently acquired Jeremy Mathieu. Most likely, They will not stop at this and may stretch out the remaining time before the next Premier League season starts.

Not every deal goes well though, as some players have chosen to decline offers from Barcelona.

For example Jan Vertonghen from Tottenham has declined Barcelona's offer and decided to stay with his current club.

Vertonghen says, "Rumors will always be there, but I just go back to Tottenham. The interest of a beautiful club like FC Barcelona excites me for sure."

"It goes without saying that I would like to stay at Tottenham. My contract extension I consider to be a great sign of confidence," he told a Belgium TV show.

On the better side of things, Joao Miranda of Atletico Madrid has expressed his interest in playing for Barcelona. Atletico however, has been adamant about the €30 million buyout fee and it is unclear on whether or not Barcelona's sporting director is trying to lower Miranda's price.

There is also the good news that Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado has agreed to join Barcelona, much to the club's persistence. However, there is a twist to this deal, which is that the Columbian footballer would agree to play for Barcelona in 2015, at the start of the next season. This will be somewhat fortunate for Barcelona as it will allow them to raise the €40 million needed for Cuadrado.

It is also fortunate for the Spanish club to have the opportunity to acquire Liverpool's Daniel Agger, after the player initially turned down Barcelona's offer. What's more, is now they can have Agger for as little as €15 million. Agger would be a much more affordable option if the Marquinhos' acquisition fails, which is expected.
