Avengers Age of Ultron Movie Plot News: Robert Downey Jr Reveals Spoilers Regarding the Future of Iron Man

Film actor Robert Downey Jr recently had a discussion about the future of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie and one of the film's cornerstone characters, Iron Man.

The film icon first played the role of Tony Stark's alter ego in the "Iron Man" movie back in 2008. Two years later, Downey Jr reprised his role as Iron Man in "Iron Man 2."  Then in 2012, Marvel Studios set the comic book world on fire when they released "Marvel's The Avengers" in movie theaters.

"The smart money is you have to look at everybody's age. I'll put myself at the top of the list. Sooner or later, they've got to start over and get somebody young. I'm not there with them yet. It really is the closest thing to being a beloved contract player with a big old-timey studio that there is right now. When you really think about it at the end of the day, these films are entertainment largely driven by young folks. There is something very honorable about that. I run into kids wearing 'Captain America' masks. My kid believes that Captain America is real," said Downey Jr to Variety.

After teaming up with the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and many other Marvel superheroes in "Marvel's The Avengers" in 2012, the actor returned to the big screen to play as billionaire Tony Stark in last year's blockbuster film "Iron Man 3." In addition, Don Cheadle reprised his role as Stark's best friend and sidekick, James Rhodes aka War Machine. Gwyneth Paltrow returned as Stark's love interest Pepper Potts. Academy Award winner for Best Actor in 1982's Gandhi, Sir Ben Kingsley also joined the cast as Trevor Slattery.

He also revealed some secrets regarding the upcoming sequel to the "Marvel's The Avengers" movie. Downey Jr hinted about Hawkeye's future in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" movie.

"This one is a very ambitious sequel. If you read it, it's dense, it's smart. Joss (Whedon) is a really smart guy. My 2-year-old is crazy about Hawkeye, and I think Jeremy (Renner) has a lot to do with the plot. There's always so many plates to spin to get these things half-right, and I'm really excited about this one," said Downey Jr to Variety.

Downey will return as Iron Man to lead the all-star roster against Ultron. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) are among the numerous actors set to reprise their role when  "Avengers: Age of Ultron" returns to the big screen on May 1, 2015.
