Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Cast Update: Andy Serkis Joins Robert Downey Jr. Scarlett Johansson
While Marvel's Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is set for a 2015 release, fans are already looking for details and expectations about the upcoming blockbuster.
So far, the superhero cast line up includes Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, James Spader, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Recently, a new cast member has been confirmed for a role in the film. Andy Serkis himself has announced that he will take part in what will surely be a monument summer movie. While his part is already set in stone, details about who he will portray are lacking beyond what he's personally said, "I'm playing a role. On 'The Avengers,' I've been working closely with Mark Ruffalo," Serkis teased, in his interview with Variety.
Although unclear, Serkis may somehow aid Ruffalo's character, the Hulk, in the film. The British actor is famous for his unusual, but effective roles which may be the reason as to why he was cast.
When asked if the audience will see his face in the film, Serkis said, "I'm not at liberty to mention. But it's all the same to me. I've never drawn a distinction when playing a role, whether it be live action or performance capture. Acting is acting. It's just basically what you wear to the set that's different," he told Variety.
In other news, fans have been reassured by Ruffalo that there won't be any changes to the cast, "I think so. I'd be really sad if they did. I can't imagine that. That would be bad. 'That would not be good,' as Joss Whedon would say... I'd love to come back as The Hulk. I don't foresee not coming back as The Hulk," he said.
Avengers 2: Age of Ultron will debut in US theaters May 1, 2015.
