Avengers 2: Age of Ultron: The Hulk's Huge Role - Boosted Screen Time
With less than a year to go before Avengers 2: Age of Ultron hits the big screen on May 1, 2015, rumors have emerged about Hulk's increased screen time. Additionally, fans are expecting a lot from this film because it has been confirmed that filming took place in many exotic areas of the world.
The film's director Joss Whedon has it all figured out. In August 2012, the writer/director was reported to have signed a three year deal with Marvel Studios. When the first film became a massive success, it sparked hope that the second one would be an even greater hit, since Whedon is still leading the production.
Rumor has it that the biggest and greenest guy in the film, the Hulk, will be coming back in a big way this year, 2015. Star Mark Ruffalo has already confirmed that he will have an expanded role for Age of Ultron. "[My role's] even bigger than last time, and it's more complex and it has more layers and a bit more arc," he told Total Film.
There have been several Hulk actors in the past like Eric Bana who got the shy and quiet aspect of the character, Edward Norton who got to be the darker character, but according to fans, Ruffalo has portrayed the best characterization so far. According to reports, he is a combination of the two renowned actors Bana and Norton. Ruffalo's performance in the first film was a very refreshing adaptation of the Hulk.
Ruffalo's had this to say about the filming methods used when playing the role of Bruce Banner, "I'm really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff... now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers." he told Total Film.
The first Avengers film was a taste of all the characters all together. Some fans wanted to see more of the Hulk and unfortunately Tony Stark's Iron Man was in the spotlight. However, rumors have been confirmed that it's Hulk's time to show off his powers in the second film of the franchise. In the last scene of the Avengers movie, it was noted that Stark and Banner have developed a unique bond which may be the starting point and the focus of the upcoming film.
