Tokyo-based Wit Studio has just confirmed that it will release the prequel animation 'Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi', which will be packaged with volumes 15 and 16 of the central storyline manga, in two parts. While volume 15 will be released on Dec. 29 this year, volume 16 will be released on April 15, 2015.
According to Wit Studio, the spin-off animation will explain the story of Legion Commander Erwin Smith, mainly, the phase of his life when he was just a rising star in the Scouting Legion. The manga written by Hajume Isayama is titled 'Shingeki no Kyojin Gaiden - Kuinaku Sentaku' (English translation called 'Attack on Titan: The Thief and the Soldier') and will form the basis of the manga spin-offs.
Initially, the second season of the extremely popular animated adaptation of the manga, 'Attack on Titan', was scheduled for release in July 2015. However, that date turned out to be a fake, but new rumors have come about claiming that Season 2 will be released August, 2015.
The setting of 'Attack on Titan' (called 'Shingeki No Kyojin' in Japanese) is a post-apocalyptic Earth, wherein humanity is pushed to the verge of annihilation by man-eating giants called Titans. The first season of the animated series was aired for the first time in Japan on April 7, 2013 and it ran until Sept. 28, 2013. In fact, fans have been waiting for the 'Attack on Titan' second season for quite some time now.
