‘Assassin’s Creed: Rogue’: Accidentally Leaked by Swiss Retailer? Glitch, Hoax, Or Great Marketing Stunt?
Swiss gaming retailer, World of Games might have unintentionally leaked the last-gen version of "Assassin's Creed' for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 set to launch this Fall.
On the website's product listings, it indicated that "Assassin's Creed: Rogue' is set to be released this Fall on October 28, the same date as the scheduled release for "Assassin's Creed: Unity' for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The information appeared on the website on July 30.
According to IGN, the listing for "Rogue' has been removed since then.
It is believed that this could be the rumored "Assassin's Creed: Comet' which was leaked earlier this year. The game allegedly revolves around Shay, a sailor and Templar, in 1758 New York. It was reported to be the direct sequel to "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag'.
On an investor call a few weeks back, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that more information on the last-gen game would be coming soon, but fans who are anticipating the official announcement of the game have yet to hear anything more since then.
Whether this was a programming glitch, hoax, or a well-orchestrated marketing stunt, additional information regarding "Assassin's Creed: Rogue' could be confirmed or denied at Gamescom 2014, which will take place from Aug. 13 to 17 in Cologne, Germany.
In other news, fans have shown their appreciation for the video trailer of parkour experts taking on "Assassin's Creed: Unity'. The short film, directed by Devin Graham, has been viewed more than seven million times on Youtube since it was posted on July 22. Fans are now wondering if the game will include additional parkour features.
Ubisoft has not provided any information if the game will contain any parkour features, however, Assistant Art Director Patrick Limoges said that the game will have a co-op multiplayer feature which will allow multiple gamers to join the game's campaign and embark on a "brotherhood mission".
