Assassin's Creed Movie Cast News, Rumors: Robert Downey Jr. To Play Leonardo da Vinci?

Latest news suggests that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming 'Assassin's Creed' movie, he will be playing the character, Leonardo da Vinci.

The news was first reported by Moviepilot, they said, "Huge 'Assassin's Creed' movie news just dropped recently and it seems like Iron Man aka Tony Stark aka Robert Downey Jr is reportedly joining the 'Assassin's Creed' movie cast as Leonardo Da Vinci."

The website further reported that this super casting development suggests that the plot of the film may perhaps be based on the game's ('Assassin's Creed II') particular storyline wherein Leonardo Da Vinci is featured as Ezio Auditore's friend.

However, the website has removed the story, so there is no way to verify whether the news is true or not. Considering Downey's keen interest in bringing a comedic twist to his roles there's a good chance he may actually appear in the 'Assassin's Creed' film.

During a recent interview, Robert Downey Jr. however cooled down 'Iron Man 4' rumors saying that the film is not happening. Nevertheless, with this new development, it seems that 'The Avengers' star might be part of yet another big, popular film franchise soon enough.

Meanwhile, NME has reported that 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' actor Michael Fassbender continues to be a part of the 'Assassin's Creed' movie. The actor said, "Nothing has changed, yeah. I'm still a part of 'Assassin's Creed', and we're working on the script as we speak. Actually, I'm going to go back and see the writers when I get back to Europe."

'Assassin's Creed' movie is now scheduled for release on Aug. 7, 2015.
