Assassin's Creed Movie Rumors: Video Game Coming to the Big Screen - Spoilers on Lead Role, Writers, Directors

Rumor has it that the popular Assassins Creed video game franchise will transpose onto the big screen via Frank Marshall and Ubisoft Motion Pictures with distribution by 20th Century Fox. It is still unknown what characters and settings will appear in the film, but some information about it has been already disclosed.

Michael Fassbender, who played young Magneto in the X-Men: Days of Future Past, is set to play the lead role in this film. Bill Collage and Adam Cooper, who wrote the script for Exodus: Gods & Kings, will be collaborating for the script of this film.

Michael Lesslie, the British playwright, wrote one of the previous drafts for the film, and Screenwriter Scott Frank is also set to add his flavor to the story.

The name of the director has not yet been revealed, but sources suggest that it might be Justin Kurzel. Ubisoft started the development of "Assassins Creed Movie" in May 2011 for a 3D release.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures has drawn out several terms and conditions about the film that are unheard of the in the Hollywood Industry. According to its agreement, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will have the final say on the budget, release date of the script, leading cast, and other executive motions as well.

With only the name of Michael Fassbender revealed, fans are excited to know whose ancestral consciousness he will go back into.

Also, the time range for the movie can be anywhere from colonial America to present day. On a darker note, since the game series tends to lean toward extreme and brutal violence, the film might have to shy away in that regard for the film to be geared toward minors.
