Arsenal Transfer Rumors 2015: Joel Campbell to Play for Benfica

New reports are claiming that Arsenal star Joel Campbell is reportedly joining Benfica.

Benfica representatives are reportedly flying to London to finalize Campbell's transfer. Campbell was loaned out to Olympiakos and performed well at the World Cup last season. However, the 22-year-old player appeared for only seven games with Arsenal and mainly stayed on the bench.

As for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, he says Campbell is not for sale and he is not leaving the club. Wenger said "Campbell will stay with us." The manager even praised the player's performance at the World Cup saying that Campbell came back stronger.

At a young age, Campbell should be given the opportunity to play regularly. This cannot be guaranteed while he is still in Arsenal.

Campbell has a lot of supporters that are disappointed with Wenger's decision to confine him on the bench. The player is on a great team, but his improvement may be hindered by the fact that he is not able to play regularly.

Campbell has previously expressed his attachment to Arsenal saying that joining the club is very important for him. The young player described 2014 as an amazing year.

"It's been a great year for me. I won the league in Greece and we got to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. What's more, winning the Community Shield was a great moment, as was scoring in the Emirates Cup in front of the Arsenal fans - so it's been an amazing year," Campbell said.

The Arsenal forward added that he would like to earn a spot on the starting 11 in the club and vowed to work harder for his improvement.

Fans can watch out for Campbell in the upcoming Arsenal games. The Premiere League Club will play against Manchester City on January 19 and against Brighton on January 26.
