Argentina enter the Final of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament after defeating Netherlands 4-2 on penalty kicks after the game ended goalless on June 9 after extra time.
Argentina is attempting to win the World Cup trophy for the first time since 1986 and for the third time in the team's history. Argentina's superstar Lionel Messi is looking to hoist the World Cup as captain of his county, and if he does so he has already indicated that it would mean more to him than all the other trophies he has won throughout his amazing career so far.
"Some of our players are sore, beaten, tired - the results of a war, so to speak," said Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella to reporters, "We have a final to play, with one day less to prepare and against a team like Germany, but with work, humility and seriousness, we'll do all we can to make it all the way to the top.
Germany is trying to beat their longtime World Cup rival Argentina in order to win the most prestigious prize in football history once again.
Germany utterly destroyed Brazil by 7-1 in the Semi-Finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament on July 8. The German side scored five goals in the first half against Brazil's goalie Júlio César in a stunning performance. Germany will be looking to win their fourth World Cup title in team history, but also their first since 1990, and their first as Germany (having previously won as West Germany).
"We enjoyed the game against Brazil, but we ticked it off after 24 hours," said Miroslav Klose to reporters in preparation of the Final. "In the next game, we have to again play to the best of our abilities. It feels really awful to lose a final, so it's our time to win this one."
The game will begin at 3 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the ABC network or online through live stream by clicking here.
