‘Aquarius’ Season 1 News, Rumors: NBC to Stream Entire Charles Mason Saga Online? [VIDEO]

If the recent trend related to television shows nowadays is any indication, TV networks seems to be experimenting with their shows, and NBC's 'Aquarius' is the latest proof of this trend.

Latin Post reports that NBC has actually worked out a bold move with 'Aquarius' by making all the 13 episodes immediately available for online streaming soon after its premiere.

While the show will continue telecasting in its normal timeslot, NBC has also asked Nielsen, the audience measurement company, to undertake a custom study. The networks wished to find out how binge watching affects the ratings of a show over the period of the season's run.

Vulture reports that the premiere episode of 'Aquarius' was watched by 5.7 million viewers on Thursday last.

The series, which stars David Duchovny in the lead role, tells the story of a detective who receives assistance from a counter-culture hippy detective on a case related to a missing person. According to the report, the historical piece narrates the saga of Charles Manson from a new approach, mainly that of Det. Sam Hodiak.

The story of the show is set in the summer of love, 1967, at a time when counter-culture was well under way and the sexual revolution was just at a nascent stage. In fact, the alternative lifestyle of this young group heavily depended on drugs and wanted something different from the status quo. They wished to explore the universe, denoting that they were open and susceptible to numerous things, including the brainwashing of fanatical cults.

According to Screen Rant, although the series is supposed to be about the Manson saga, it plays several other angles of what come to light during that summer and did not only focus on Manson himself. If truth be told, the Manson story did not break officially until 1969, after the gruesome murders of Sharon Tate and her friends, who were unfortunate enough to be at her house on the fateful night.
