Apple iWatch Release Date: Teenage Demographic Shows Little Interest, Launch Delayed

It is possible that the new Apple Watch will not be on the fans' shopping list this year as the release date is suspected to be delayed.

Despite the official announcement from Apple Inc. last September saying they will release the Apple Watch "soon," analysts from Rosenblatt Securities are still skeptical. They said that the production is experiencing some problems and it is possible that they might take a few more months to fix the bugs.

According to Rosenblatt Securities analyst Brian Blair, the release will probably happen mid next year since Apple will only have their mass production on January 2015. It is also reported that the new wearable device will be only be available in a couple of markets.

According to GSMArena, Quanta, Apple Watch's main supplier, could provide about 15 million units, and it will increase to 25 million if the demand would go higher.

However, it is reported that Apple's biggest market is not thrilled about the new device. According to a survey done by Piper Jaffray, it is the teen demographic that is not looking forward to the latest Watch. With 7,200 correspondents, only 16 percent said that they are interested to see and buy the new Watch.

"What's driving that is teens don't wear watches and I think that there is a kind of a structural shift that needs to happen and I think in general people have just obviously been using their phones to tell time," said analyst Gene Munster.

Price is also one of the factors why the teens did not support since it is expected to be released at $499. On that note, the limited Apple Edition could reach as high as $4,999.
