Apple iPhone 6 Cost: Contract vs Unlocked, Bent iPhone 6 Plus Rumors

The iPhone 6 is now out and available both online and in Apple stores and other major retailers. However, due to a higher demand than anticipated, it will be tougher to get one without a pre-order.

The average cost of an iPhone 6, with a two-year contract, is $199, $299 and $399 for the 16, 64 and 128-gigabyte models, respectively.

However, when purchasing an unlocked iPhone 6, consumers need to spend much more than contract iPhones. The unlocked iPhone series usually costs $649, $749 and $849 for the 16, 64 and 128GB models respectively.

After its release on Sept. 19, millions of people around the globe lined up outside Apple stores to get themselves the smartphone. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, has extended his gratitude to all customers for the success of their newest flagship smartphones, saying it "exceeded expectations."

"While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible," Cook stated.

The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch LED back-lit display with a 1334 x 750 resolution. It is equipped with the Retina HD, a feature Apple has been showing off to consumers.

Meanwhile, Apple has officially responded to all rumors about the iPhone 6 bending when kept in a pocket. The company said only nine from millions of customers who bought the smartphone complained about a bent iPhone. They defended the design of the newest product and said that they have made it both "beautiful and sturdy."

Apple also said that customers that want replacement units must have their bent devices pass a Visual Mechanical Inspection first before being eligible.
