Apple iOS 8.1.2 Update Details, Changes, Review: Is the New iPhone 6 Plus Upgrade Worth it?

With all the issues that have come with Apple's latest iOS 8, users of Apple devices are wondering if they should upgrade to the latest OS or not. Just last week, Apple released iOS 8.1.2 in an attempt to address some of the problems, but some users are still wary about committing to an update.

Stepping into a review from Gotta Be Mobile, many of the changes and fixes to the operation system have been highlighted which just might push a conflicted iPhone 6 Plus user over the edge.

On a side note, Apple is still working on iOS 8.2, and is letting certain developers test it now, but again it's not ready. However, small bug fixes have been implemented in the stable iOS 8.1.2 update for iPhone 6 Plus.

First and foremost, one of the most evident changes to the iPhone 6 Plus after installing the iOS 8.1.2, is the reinstatement of the missing ringtones. While this may not seem like the biggest deal to many Apple device users, it's nice to be able to restore some of the ringtones into the device that users were expecting.

Beyond that, the review by Gotta Be Mobile goes on to mention that changes have been made to the AirDrop app after installing iOS 8.1.2. Apparently, the program is back to it's pre-update reliability, and the iOS 8.1.2 upgrade has worked wonders for the apps functionality.

In regards to iPhone 6 Plus battery life, post iOS 8.1.2 update, it appears to be relatively solid. The review goes on to say that with the new update, the device is somewhat reliable in its ability to last through out the day.

However, Gotta Be Mobile goes on to warn, "If you experience any iOS 8.1.2 battery life problems, look for apps that are misbehaving or try reseting network settings."

On a sour note, one thing that still plagues users of the iPhone 6 Plus, even after the iOS 8.1.2 patch, is unreliable call answering.

The report mentioned this, and how it remains an issue with the device, "I am not also able to reliably answer calls on the iPhone 6 Plus that come in to my iPhone 6, a problem that struck on the first day of using iOS 8.1.2."

Beyond all that, the release date for the next version of the operation system, iOS 8.2, has no set launch window as of yet.
