Apple 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Gearing Up for September 2014 Release Date

Current rumors peg the release of the iPhone 6 in September of this year, but as of yet nothing is official so that is subject to change. It hasn't even been an entire year since the release of the iPhone 5, and already specs and price rumors flood tech sites about its upcoming successor.

The release of the iPhone 6 will be Apple's bid in the bigger-screen smartphone market, which is already crowded by other smartphones like Samsung's Galaxy S5, LG's G3, and even Sony's Xperia Z2. Apple realized that it would be difficult to remain on top of the smartphone game if their largest screen was only 4.0-inches, hence, the boosted screen size in the iPhone 6.

Rumors also claim that the Cuptertino-headquartered tech titan will be releasing two versions of the upcoming smartphone, a 4.7-inch model, and a 5.5-inch one. However, there is no word about how these two versions will be released. Some say they will be released on different dates, while others speculate that they will share a launch date.

It is more likely that both versions will be released at the same time as Apple is reported to be hiring Chinese factories for production of the phones. Production for the 4.7-inch version is already on its way while the 5.5-inch version will undergo production sometime in August.

Apple is expecting high demand for the upcoming phone and is ordering somewhere between 70 to 80 million units, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Pricing will be what most Apple consumers can expect, not cheap. Certainly, the iPhone 6 will be coming with a premium price tag, much like most of their other products. The larger screen, with its coveted Sapphire glass contribute majorly to its hefty price tag and analysts place the iPhone 6 somewhere between the $800-$1000 mark.

The 4.7-inch is probably going for around $850 while the bigger 5.5-inch version might go somewhere around $950.
