Another Marvel Comics character, Ant-Man, will be joining the other superheros up on the big screen when his movie releases July 17, 2015. 'Ant-Man' joins the club of comic characters like Captain America, The Avengers, Thor, and Iron Man who have transitioned to the cinema.

Michael Douglas has been zeroed to play the central character, Hank Pym. Initial reports mentioned that Hank Pym would be a villain in the movie, but that has since been debunked. What has been confirmed, however, is that Hank Pym will be played by Michael Douglas (senior version) and Paul Rudd will play Scott Lang or Ant-Man.

The movie unfolds the story of Lang helping Hank carry on the Ant-Man legacy and help defend the Earth from dark and destructive forces.

The Ant-Man technology invented by Hank Pym plays a pivotal role in the movie. The technology, which is encased in a suit, gives the wearer the ability to shrink to microscopic sizes and also enlarge 100 times the size of a human body.

In terms of the 'Ant-Man' cast, Evangeline Lily will play the role of Hank Pym's daughter. Also, fans are excited with the prospect of watching Martin Donovan, of 'Weeds' fame, featured in the film. However, his character has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios yet.

On that note, in terms of the Ant-Man villain, Corey Stoll has already been cast to assume the role of the Yellowjacket in the movie.

It's worth mentioning that the film got into some hot water when director Edgar Wright backed off from the project due to creative differences. Nevertheless, the movie is back on track as director Payton Reed is set to helm the production of 'Ant-Man'.
