Ann Curry Firing Called 'Operation Bambi', 'Today' Show Host Called Last Days "Professional Torture"

Ann Curry from Today was fired reportedly because co-host Matt Lauer, "didn't like her." The producers of Today show dubbed the firing "Operation Bambi" comparing Curry to an iconic Disney character. Curry has publicly compared her final days at Today to "professional torture" and exposed quite a few details regarding the firing in Brian Stelter's book, Top of the Morning [April 23 release date].

The book reveals how much Curry had to deal with while she was working for the Today show. She was referred to as "Big Bird" by staff on the show. Her personal affects were reportedly moved to a coat closet signaling the eventual firing of Curry. Blooper reels were made of Curry's on-air mistakes and spread around to slander the Today co-host.

One source says, "a lot of time in the control room was spent making fun of Ann's outfit choices or just generally messing with her."

Though Ann Curry was fired last June, Brian Stelter's upcoming book about behind the scenes of the Today show is bound to cause a few headaches for NBC.
 
NBC isn't backing down from their decision to fire Ann Curry.

One NBC rep told The Huffington Post.

"We are focused on covering several major news stories this week and producing the best show we can for our viewers, not on year-old gossip."
