Angie Miller Forgoes College To Be On American Idol; Risks It All For a Chance At Fame

American Idol'sAngie Miller is doing quite well, thank you for asking. Which is saying something. Not all third place contestants are so excited. She may have been upset that she didn't make the finale of the Fox megashow, but that hasn't stopped her non-stop publicity tour since exiting American Idol earlier this Spring.

She's been moving non-stop, making appearances and performances at places like The Tonight ShowRyan Seacrest LIVE, and, most recently, on Live! With Kelly & Michael.

The Boston-area native performed her original song, "You Set Me Free." And the song still has as much musical and emotional impact as it did when she first performed it on Hollywood week during this most recent season of American Idol.

After the performance, Angie talked with Kelly and Michael about motivations to audition for American Idol. She had just graduated high school and  ad a month to decide whether to audition or whether to accept some of the scholarships she had received to go to college. Miller almost didn't go to the auditions at all, contemplating just going to the safe route to college.

For Miller, as it would be for most of us (if we had her talent), the decision was excruciating. But, we can see now that it has paid off. Big time.

We will definitely be watching her career as she goes forward. Best of luck, Angie!
