Android Kitkat Update Arrives to HTC One M8, HTC One M7 May Skip to Android L
The latest 4.4.4 update to the Android OS has been making its runs through the various Android compatible devices. Since this is the case, people have expected that the OS has already made it to majority of Android devices by now.
Such is not the case as compatibility issues would arise from simply porting the OS to all Android-dependent devices.
The HTC One M8 and M7 are such devices that have had the Android update ported later than most other brands and models.
The M7 has skipped the whole Android Kitkat experience and went on ahead to the latest Android L. Rooters for the Android platform have already begun work to put the OS onto the phone. The company has however, not done the same for the M8.
Instead, the manufacturers are working on porting the Android Kitkat 4.4.3 to the M8. Before, the 4.4.2 was littered with various bugs that threatened user security. The 4.4.3 update was there to fix the problems the 4.4.2 update was experiencing, but experienced bugs of its own. The 4.4.4 was then created to fix the bugs and make improvements to the phone's features.
The 4.4.4 however, may not see its integration to the M8.
The security updates were the most important in the 4.4.4 update, especially with the Heartbleed bug discovered during the 4.4.2 update.
The M8's preparation for the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 update is an unorthodox move for HTC since the company could simply switch to the upcoming Android L when it comes out. The company however, believes that the security updates of the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 is still essential to protect the integrity of its users information security.
For a those who have the M8, they might have to wait until later this year to get the update, and then the switch to the Android L.
