Android KitKat 4.4.4 Update on Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 Coming for Australian Carriers

The new Android updates for Android devices are now being released for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The updates will be released to various cellular network carriers around the world. One of the first countries to first receive the update will be Australia.

Three carriers are to receive the update and offer it to their subscribers, Vodafone, Optus, and Telstra will be to obtain it. As of now, consumers will have to wait for software testing to be done before they can expect their updates on their Samsung devices.

For Vodafone, the update is coming for the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 LTE, but is still waiting software testing before releasing it to the public. The update for the Galaxy Note 2 is expected to arrive this month of July while for the Galaxy S3, has no arrival date as of yet.

The same goes for Optus and Telstra, with software testing still in the works. Optus expects the update to roll out also this month, whereas Telstra will be releasing the update around mid to late July.

Currently, the only devices eligible for the updates are the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3. The newer Galaxy S5 also may receive the update depending on when the Android L will be coming out.

The KitKat update will be fixing the Heartbleed bug issue of the Android 4.4.3 version. Also, the update will be adding several changes to improve performance, optimize system apps, and improve battery life. There are no details yet on whether the update will include services like TouchWiz or apps that are exclusive to the Galaxy S5.
