Android 5.0 Update Release Date, Rumors: Apps Faster With Less Battery Power
As Google prepares to unveil its Android 5.0, many speculate that this will result in smooth-running apps and more efficient battery consumption. While the goal of maximized processor speed is based on the current runtime of Android devices, installaltion of the apps with take more time and require more storage space.
Being one of the most anticipated tech events of the year, Google I/O Conference 2014 is expected to be host to a number of brand new gadget releases including Nexus 8, Nexus 10 2, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. According to rumors, Lollipop is Google's biggest operating system breakthrough which stands to compete with iOS 8.
Some speculate that Android Lollipop will totally revamp the smartphone overall design in terms of the home screen, settings menu, notifications, and app drawer. Android Police leaked revised icons for the next generation Google operating system, showing themes that are Gmail-inspired. These icons are developed under the codename Moonshine.
Aside from multiple UI revisions, Google announced that Android Runtime (ART) will be the default environment software, which means shying away from Dalvik and XDA. With Apple and its iMessage, Google is integrating heavily-upgraded Hangouts to support video streaming services, chat, texting, and picture messaging all in one platform.
In addition to fingerprint scanning, it is rumored that Android 5.0 will pioneer a voice security feature which is based off a speech recognition program that is already existent in current Android devices.
Google is expected to release Android 5.0 in time with its annual developer-focused conference on June 25 which will be held in San Francisco, California.
