Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Release Date Arrives for Nvidia Shield Tablet

According to the latest reports, Nvidia Shield Tablet will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS in November.

Nvidia is the first Original Equipment Manufacturer to promise an early release date for Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

HTC said that its One M8 smartphone will be updated to Lollipop "within 90 days" while Sony revealed that its Xperia smartphone will receive the update in early 2015.

The video that Nvidia released, which shows Android 5.0 Lollipop on the tablet, promises its users that the Shield tablet is receiving the update this month. The manufacturer's Shield Hub is also getting a material design makeover.

The tablet seen in the video is the LTE version of the Nvidia Shield Tablet.

The Shield Portable and Shield tablet of Nvidia are complete with bug fixes and feature improvements with semi-monthly software updates, Android Police reported.

The Shield tablet uses a Tegra K1 processor, which is also found in the Nexus 9. However, Shield tablet costs less, compared to Nexus 9.

Nvidia will also update its own application, Dabbler. It is a drawing application that comes pre-installed on the Shield tablet to take advantage of its stylus and reports say that it is getting a design update.

The Shield Hub application will be upgraded as well, as the Shield tablet is a device for gamers, according to Android and Me.

Apparently, the tablet's 8-inch 1920 x 1080 LCD screen is meant for high-definition gaming. On that note, Nvidia has a Shield wireless controller that only works for Shield tablets.

Google's updated software will provide the Nvidia tablet with enhanced notifications, better security with Samsung's Knox enterprise suite, and improve syncing across devices, The Inquirer reported.

Lastly, the battery saving mode which Google claims will offer the device an additional 90 minutes of power as well.
