Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on LG G3 Release Date for Users in Poland This Week
Here is some good news for LG G3 users. The Korean tech firm has said that it will begin rolling out the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop to G3 handsets in Poland this week, while those in other markets may expect the latest mobile operating system from Google in the ensuing weeks. A release schedule for its other devices is forthcoming, according to LG.
A statement issued by Jong-seok Park, CEO and President, LG Electronics Mobile Communications, read, "LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available, and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority."
The statement added, "The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is."
It may be noted that Android 5.0 Lollipop was unveiled at the Google I/O conference in June. It comes with a number of new features, including a new user interface, which Google describes as "responsive, with natural motion, realistic lighting and shadows".
In addition, the mobile operating system also has an entirely updated notifications function, enabling users to interact with notifications from their lock screen, set priority notifications, as well as be in control of notifications of incoming calls and those set off by applications. Android 5.0 Lollipop also includes major updates meant to enhance battery life, device sharing as well as security.
Currently, Nexus 9 tablet is already running Android 5.0 Lollipop and it will also be shipped with the Nexus 6 smartphone, which is slated for release on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
XDA Developers noted that the Mountain View-based search engine giant has already released the OS code to developers. Several handset manufacturers have also announced plans to update their devices with the new Android 5.0.
In fact, the Lenovo Group's Motorola Mobility LLC unit has sent a supposed soak test beta version of the OS to a select number of Moto X 2014 users. Similarly, Japanese tech manufacturer Sony has also sent an unofficial AOSP (Android Open Source Project) version of Android 5.0 to people using its Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 handsets.
In the meantime, some developers have demonstrated the unofficial versions of Android 5.0 on Samsung devices like the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Nexus.
All said and done, many devices are still unlikely to receive the official Android 5.0 update until 2015. The companies that have already confirmed rolling out Android 5.0 for their devices include HTC and Nvidia. While Samsung is not yet to confirm its Android 5.0 plans, it is expected to update several devices in its Galaxy line.
