‘Amityville Horror’ Release Date, Rumors: 2015 Premiere Set by Dimension Films
Dimension Films has set a January 2, 2015 release date for their upcoming "Amityville'.
Previously entitled "Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes', the film is written and directed by Franck Khalfoun. Khalfoun stepped in after the previous directing and writing duo Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands bowed out of the project.
The movie showcases the events after the time of the original "The Amityville Horror' book and movie, and takes place in the original Amityville house.
Last year, La Scala and Farrands released the original plot of the film: "An ambitious female television intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen, and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as "The Amityville Horror'"¦ only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close."
However, that plot was scrapped in favor of a new take on the story. Instead, Khalfoun chose to go with an entirely new concept with the horror flick, placing the focus on a single mother who moves her three children into the haunted house, not knowing of the home's bloody history.
According to IMDB.com, the movie is currently in post-production. The film stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Taylor Spreitler, Mckenna Grace and Dan Martino.
The new release date of "Amityville' makes this the first major release of 2015. It will be followed a week later by another horror film, 'Frankenstein' starring Dan Radcliffe.
