'American Idol' Top 8 Perform "Songs of Motown" Tonight

American Idol airs the Top 8 performance episode Wednesday night at 8/7c on FOX.

The remaining 8 contestants: Angie Miller, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Janelle Arthur, Amber Holcomb, Devin Velez, Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Taylor will be singing the songs of Motown, "Music of Motor-City."

Serving as American Idol mentor will be Motown legend Smokey Robinson, replacing famed producer Jimmy Iovine.

Excited to meet Robinson in person, several of the Idol contestants took to their Twitter support to tweet about their face time with the "Tracks of My Tears" singer.

Devin Velez tweeted, "Meeting [Smokey] Robinson for the first time was such a pleasure! he's so nice & genuine!" while Lazaro Arbos wrote, "I just met Smokey Robinson it was such an amazing talk."

I wonder if Paul Jolley is a Smokey Robinson fan. Jolley was eliminated from American Idol last week after receiving the least amount of votes. The Palmersville, TN native and self-proclaimed, "male Taylor Swift" sang "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles in the vein of Season 8 finalist Adam Lambert.

On the Thursday, March 28 (8:00-9:00 EST) live results show, American Idol will celebrate it's 450th episode. Along with an eliminated Top 8 contestant, the 450th episode will also feature a performance from Season 11 finalist Colton Dixon. He'll be performing a track off his debut record, A Messenger.

Let's see if Dixon can top American Idol Season 12 favorite Angie Miller's rendition of his original song "Never Gone".

Tune in this week to the American Idol Top 8 performance episode Wednesday night at 8/7c on FOX.
