"American Idol" Ruben Studdard to Compete on "The Biggest Loser" Upcoming Season 15

Ruben Studdard will be back on national television this fall, but it won't be for his singing. He will be a contestant on the upcoming season of "The Biggest Loser" (Season 15) on NBC.

Studdard won the hearts of America with his voice and personality as a contestant and eventual winner of "American Idol" Season 2.

Weight has always been an issue with Studdard, 34, but had lost over 70 pounds in the last few years. Unfortunately, with his divorce from Surata Zuri McCants last year, he has put much of the weight back on.

In a 2006 interview on the "Today" Show, Studdard shared about his weight saying, "On both sides of my family, I have a history of diabetes and high blood pressure and things of that nature. I just wanted to basically combat those issues at an early age. They've never been an issue for me, but I wanted to do it while I was still young and felt like working out and looking great."

Studdard has kept singing in the years since 'Idol' but has never really had the mainstream success many had expected of him after being such a break out star on the show. His latest album was released last year entitled, Letters from Birmingham.

Hopefully being on "The Biggest Loser" will give him a new sense of confidence and focus after his divorce so he can keep sharing his wonderful gift of music with his fans for many years to come.

"The Biggest Loser" is back for the premiere of Season 15 on NBC on Oct 8.

We will all be rooting for Ruben to do great!
