"American Idol" News: Carrie Underwood Performs and See Who Went Home Tonight!
The Top 7 performed on "American Idol" on FOX last night and tonight was the results show to find out who goes home and who will make it into the Top 6 for next week.
The contestants theme last night was classic rock, with the stipulation that there would be no ballads. Everyone had to rock out. This worked well for some and not so well for others.
Angie Miller who had her first sub-par week last week singing, "Shop Around" by The Miracles was back in full force last night with argueably the nights best performance. Miller performed "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence where she started out on the piano which has been her strong suit and ended the performance rocking out with the full band. After a good performance, America chose to keep Miller safe for another week.
Burnell taylor performed "You Gave Love a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi. He did a respectable job but rock n roll is clearly not his thing so he seemed a little uncomfortable and judge Keith Urban agreed saying, "I'm going to assume rock and roll is not your thing." Urban goes on to say, "I've never seen you this uncomfortable. Next time, make it your own." Burnell Taylor ended up in the bottom 2 with Janelle Arthur.
Burnell Taylor ended up eliminated as the judges did not give him the save.
The results night on "American Idol" are always looking to fill time for the hour but one good thing they do is bring in outside performers. This year they brought in a top selling pop artist or band along with a performance from an Idol alum.
Tonight the country pop princess Carrie Underwood did a special performance of her new single "See You Again". As always her voice was incredible. This song was written by Underwood along with Hillary Lindsey and David Hodges. "See You Again" is the fourth single off her platinum-selling album, "Blown Away." Underwood had released four records since winning "American Idol" and just recently celebrated her 17th number one song.
Some of the previous artists to perform on "American Idol" for results night this year have been Bon Jovi, Ne-Yo and One Republic. The Idol alum performances have included Jessica Sanchez, Colton Dixon and Phillip Phillips.
