"American Idol' New Season News, Rumors: TV Talent Contest Implements New Strategies
For the past few seasons, the singing competition that started it all, 'American Idol', has been slowly losing fans and dropping in its ratings. But before it's too late, the talent television show has employed new strategies to turn its failing popularity around.
Ryan Seacrest, 'American Idol' host and famous TV personality, talks about the drastic changes in a recent interview. For one, none of the original judges will be on the television show in either a judge position or a mentoring role. However, Randy Jackson, the last remaining of the original crew, has given up 'American Idol' completely. This year, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. are our judges.
Scott Borchetta, Taylor Swift's mentor, has taken over Randy's role as a mentor for a whole new group of singing talent. When Scott isn't helping talented young artists, he manages the Big Machine Label group as president and CEO. "It's been a great time," Borchetta said about his new position in the television series.
"Keith, Harry Connick Jr, and J-Lo have accepted me right into the music conversation. I've been really impressed with how the three of them work together. It's been a lot of fun," he added.
The new season kicks off with two premieres that immediately introduce the top 24 for Season 14, although their faces are hidden from view. In a season sneak peak, the top 24 tease viewers with their amazing voices and shadowy silhouettes, but fans will have to watch the show to find out who these future stars will be!
As a final twist, 'American Idol' is now offering a $50,000 prize to a friend or family member who encouraged the final winner to audition.
