American Idol: Angie Miller Shines Singing "I'll Stand By You" Tonight, See Judges Reactions(Top 5)
"American Idol" continued tonight with the all female Top 5 all singing for a spot in the Top 4 next week.
Christian artist and front runner Angie Miller performed "I'll Stand by You" by The Pretenders. Before Angie started singing, she dedicated the song to the city of Boston that is still reeling from the explosions during the Boston Marathon on Monday. Miller grew up in Beverly,MA which is less then a 30 minute drive north of Boston.
Miller sang again from the piano, which the judges always say she gives her strongest performances from. She has been criticized for being too theatrical and not showing enough real emotion that connects to the song, but tonight she was fully engaged into the heart of the song she was singing.
Here is what the judges had to say:
Mariah Carey, "That was a beautiful dedication (to Boston), thank you. The song was perfect, especially tonight in terms of your hometown."
Keith Urban, "I love you at the piano, we all do, really really good song choice. I look forward to you hitting the road, where all the edges get softened and you get looser. You have such an amazing voice, it makes me want to cry every time, i don't know why. There is a tone in there that is so beautiful, well done."
Nicki Minaj, "You know we are all obsessed when you are on that piano, I'm so glad you made that choice. I love the way you feel tonight, the way you look. I think that comes from you being on the piano because you know who Angie is on that piano better then anyone else. I love that you dedicated it to your hometown, it was such a smart choice as an artist, outside of just you as a human being. Congratulations on a great performance."
Randy Jackson, "This Top 5 girls are some of the best top 5 we have ever had I think in a long, long time. That was a great song choice for you, that was a great vocal delivery. We've all said we love you behind the piano. Dude, I thin you are on your way, I really really do."
Tune in tomorrow night on FOX to see if Angie moves onto the Top 4 next week!
