American Idol 2013 Tour Cancels Dates. Season Hits Another Low After Record Bottoms for Single Sales

American Idol 2013 has not been a year to remember. The show saw some of the lowest ratings yet and the winner, Candice Glover, has seen terrible performance of her newest single. Well, the news only gets worse from there.

According to an American Idol spokesperson, the American Idol 2013 Tour will be starting about a month late and won't even visit several of the cities that were originally booked. The Idol source recently released the following statement:

"Due to production scheduling changes, the American Idol 2013 Tour will now begin on July 19th and go through the summer until August 31st. The Idols look forward to performing in 30 venues across the country."

Hmm. Seems fishy. "Production scheduling"? It seems like "poor ticket sales" might be closer to the truth. With the tour now only hitting 30 out of the original 40 cities that were scheduled, the American Idol tour seems to be reeling.

There are multiple possible explanations for the decline in the Idol tour and the Idol brand in general. Are "The X Factor" and "The Voice" proving to be too much competition? They've yet to produce a "Carrie Underwood" or "Kelly Clarkson" level of talent and success, but they could be gaining ground.

Whatever the reason, this is definitely not good news for American Idol or its fans. The writing just might be on the wall for the daddy-of-them-all singing competition.
